“My favourite film.”

Read and translate the text

My name is Sandra. I am 12 years old. I’d like to tell you about my favourite movie. I like watching movies very much, especially at the cinema. Every time a new film  comes out my friends and I go to see it. We have watched many films , but my favourite one is an American film called “Jurassic World “ (29.05.2015). It is an adventure film. It is the fourth part in Jurassic park serial.

The director of the film is Colin Trevorrow. The music is composed by Michael Giacchino. The actors Chris Pratt, Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio , Nick Robinson, Ty Simpkins, Omar Sy, Katie Mc Grath play the leading parts. I enjoy their superb acting. The director uses animation technique and special effects to make this film a worldwide attraction.

The main characters appeared on the island at the coast of Costa-Rica. It is a real dinosaur theme park where ancient animals live. They were made by people who used blood of ancient insects. The organizers of the park wanted to demonstrate a new attraction. But it happened that the dinosaurs freed themselves. In result there were a lot of exciting adventures waiting the main heroes of the film.

I shall remember this film for a long time. If you haven’t seen this film yet, I recommend it.

London is the capital of Great Britain, its political, economic and cultural centre. It’s one of the largest cities in the world. Its population is more than 8 million people. London is situated on the river Thames. It was founded more than two thousand years ago.

London is an ancient city. It appeared at the place where the Roman invaders decided to build a bridge over the Thames. There are four parts in London: West End, East End, the City and Westminster.

The City is the oldest part of London, its financial and business centre. There are many offices, companies and banks in this part of the capital.

Westminster is also important part of the capital. It’s an aristocratic part and administrative centre of London. The Houses of Parliament, the seat of the British Government, are there.

West End, the richest and most beautiful part of London. It is the symbol of wealth and luxury. The best hotels, shops, restaurants, clubs, and theatres are situated there.

East End, an industrial district of the capital. Most of plants and factories are situated there.

London Big Ben   Also known as Big Ben, the officially named Elizabeth Tower was completed in 1858. A renowned landmark of London, it’s found next to the Houses of Parliament, which makes it just about the most important building in the area. Big Ben is an excellent timekeeper, which has rarely stopped. The name Big Ben actually refers not to the clock-tower itself, but to the thirteen ton bell hung within. The bell was named after the first commissioner of works, Sir Benjamin Hall.

London Tower Bridge Built between 1886 - 1894, Tower Bridge crosses the River Thames and is an iconic symbol of London. It takes its name from the closely located Tower of London. Not to be confused with London Bridge, the next bridge upstream.

Houses of Parliament. The Houses of Parliament, known as The Palace of Westminster, stands on the site where Edward the Confessor had the original palace built in the first half of the 11 century. The Palace of Westminster has been home to the English Parliament.

In Britain the Queen is the Head of State. She is officially the head of the state. Elizabeth II lives in the Buckingham Palace. On 6 February (1952) it has been 65 years since Her Majesty acceded to the throne. She is the first sovereign in the history of British Monarchy to reach the 65 years on the throne.

                                       Cinema in Our Life

Cinema is one of the wonders of the modern world. Its possibilities are really unlimited, because it gives pleasure to millions of people. The history of this kind of art began with the invention of the machine showing films. In 1895 Lumiere brothers demonstrated the first film in Paris, which lasted only one minute. And it was a great success.

Now it’s a very popular kind of art. There’re cinemas in cities and towns. For most people cinema is the means of entertainment and rest. You know the life isn’t simple today and people want to relax a little, sometimes even to laugh. That’s why cinema is considered to be one of the best ways of spending free time.

Usually we see films either at the cinema or on TV. Frankly speaking we see more various films on TV or on a computer because the price of the tickets at the cinema is rather high now. But from time to time we go to the cinema and we prefer to buy tickets at the box-office beforehand. Near the cinema you can see a cinema bill where you can read what films are on and when the show begins. Now everyone can find something to his liking in the broad variety of genres: feature films, horror films, animated cartoons, detectives, adventure and spy films, thrillers, blockbusters, westerns, comedies, historical films, fantasy, documentary or popular science films and a lot of others. Besides films may be color or black and white, sound or silent, dubbed in your mother tongue or original.

Making a film is a very complicated and difficult thing. Many people working at a film studio take part in the film shooting: a producer, a film director, a script-writer, a camera-man and many others.

Cinema is loved by people in many countries. That’s why nearly every year different film festivals are held. The most popular of the them are film festivals in Cannes (France), Venice (Italy), Los Angeles (the USA), Moscow (Russia), Odessa (Ukraine) and “Oscar” in Hollywood. The most talented actors and actresses are awarded with prizes.
