We go by car

And we go by train. We go by boat,

And we go by plane.

We go by land

And sea and air,

We go, go, go,

From here to there.

№1. It is the fastest way of travelling/ It can take you from one town to the other one in time. The seats are comfortable. That is a pity but sometimes you can see very little from the windows. The things are too small to see them. When the weather is rainy or foggy you cannot travel by it.

Hello, children.

Today we’re going to travel around London. We’ll start from one of its places of interest. It is a famous theatre where only Shakespeare’s plays are staged.

What theatre is it?

It’s the Globe Theatre.

We’ll speak about the Globe Theatre. We’ll get to know some interesting facts about this theatre, read the text about its history and get some information about it, give a description of the places of interest in London.

The Globe

1. The Globe was built in 1599 in Southwark on the south bank of London’s River Thames.

2. The Globe was able to hold up to 3000 spectators.

3. The theatre had a 100-foot diameter.

4. The theatre had three stories of seating.

5. The Globe Theatre burnt down in 1613 when a special effect on stage went wrong. A cannon used for a performance of Henry VIII set light to the thatched roof and the fire quickly spread, reportedly taking less than two hours to burn down completely.

6. The Globe Theatre was rebuilt on the same spot in 1614.

7. In 1997 a third version and a faithful reconstruction of the Globe Theatre was built as “Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre”, close to the original site in Southwark.

Travelling

On the move, on the move, millions of people are on the move.

On the road, on the road, thousands of cars are on the road.

In the sky, in the sky, hundreds of planes quickly fly.

By train or bus, by plane or car people like travelling very far.

-         So what’s the theme of our lesson? We are going to speak how people travel, why do they travel, with whom and do they like it or not?

1.     Interesting facts about London transport

A. London Buses

 London buses are called double-deckers. They have a driver and a conductor. When you get on the bus, the conductor says, "Fares, please." You say where you want to go, he tells you how much to pay, you pay him and he gives you a ticket. Keep it till the end of your trip!

B. London Underground (Tube)

The London Underground or Tube is the oldest and the largest in the world. There are many lines on the London Underground. All the lines are of a different color on the map. Today the Tube has over 406 kilometres of lines and 275 stations.

C. Taxi

If you are in a hurry, the fastest way of travelling is by-taxi. Their special shape and black color are famous all over the world. The black cabs as they are called have become the symbol of London. Now the taxi drivers have their cabs in different colors - red, green, even silver. London drivers even have green badges on their jackets.
